Batuk merupakan keluhan yang sering dialami masyarakat dan dianggap ringan. Menurut data statistik dari Dinas Kesehatan Provinsi Yogyakarta tahun 2021 terdapat lebih dari 35% penderita batuk di daerah Kulon Progo dan Bantul. Batuk merupakan salah satu keluhan yang sering ditangani dengan swamedikasi, namun kurangnya pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai jenis batuk dan pemilihan obat yang tepat dapat menimbulkan risiko kesalahan pengobatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan pasien tentang swamedikasi batuk di Apotek Azzam Farma 2. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasional yang bersifat deskriptif, dengan kuisioner tertutup. Teknik yang digunakan dalam pengambilan sampel yaitu Purposive sampling. Sampel penelitian ini merupakan pasien swamedikasi batuk di Apotek Azzam Farma 2 dengan jumlah 80 responden. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan kategori pengetahuan baik, cukup, dan kurang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas pasien yang melakukan swamedikasi batuk di Apotek Azzam Farma 2 yaitu dengan usia 20 – 44 tahun, jenis kelamin perempuan, pendidikan terakhir SMA/SMK/Sederajat, dan pekerjaan paling banyak adalah ibu rumah tangga. Kesimpulan pada penelitian ini tingkat pengetahuan pasien terhadap swamedikasi batuk di Apotek Azzam Farma 2 dalam kategori baik sebanyak 44 responden (55%), cukup sebanyak 36 responden (45%), dan tidak terdapat responden yang memiliki tingkat pengetahuan kurang.

Coughing is a reflex that is stimulated by irritation of the lungs or respiratory tract. The prevalence of cough in pneumonia in Indonesia in 2022 was highest in North Kalimantan with a percentage of 67.3%, while cases in Yogyakarta had a percentage of 10.3%. According to statistical data from the Yogyakarta Health Office in 2021, there were more than 35% of cough patients in the Kulon Progo and Bantul areas. A good level of knowledge can influence the rational use of drugs. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of knowledge about the use of cough medicine in Plambongan Hamlet, Pajangan Bantul.
This research method is descriptive observational with data collection using purposive sampling technique. The sample in this study were people in Plambongan Hamlet aged 17-55 years, totaling 100 people. The results of the respondents' answers were analyzed and then categorized the level of knowledge in the good, sufficient and deficient categories.
Based on the results obtained, the level of knowledge about the use of cough medicine in Plambongan Hamlet has good knowledge of 19 respondents (19%), enough as many as 75 respondents (75%), and less as many as 6 respondents (6%). It can be concluded that the level of knowledge of the people of Plambongan Hamlet is more in the moderate category.

Cough is a common problem in society. The prevalence of cough according to statistical data from the Yogyakarta Health Office (2021) is more than 35% of cough sufferers in the Bantul area. Cough is usually treated by self- medication. The knowledge obtained shows that respondents who have a good level of knowledge about self-medication for cough medicine are 40% while the level of knowledge is low as much as 15%. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of public knowledge about self-medication for cough medicine in Karanglo Hamlet, Tamanan, Banguntapan, Bantul, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The method used in this study is descriptive observational. The sampling method used is purposive sampling, the number of samples in this study was 60 respondents from a population of 127 residents. This study uses a measuring instrument in the form of a closed questionnaire to determine the level of knowledge of respondents. The data obtained is described as good, sufficient, and lacking knowledge. The results of the study showed that from 16 statements that had been processed, 22 respondents (36.67%) were in the good category, 29 respondents (48.33%) were in the sufficient category and 9 respondents (15.00%) were in the less category. It can be concluded that the level of community knowledge in self-medication of cough medicine in Karanglo Hamlet, Banguntapan, Bantul is categorized as sufficient knowledge.

Self-medication is an action taken by individuals, families, or communities to promote and maintain health, as well as to prevent and treat diseases. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) in 2023, approximately 79.74% of the Indonesian population engages in self-medication, with the Yogyakarta region reporting 73.30%, a number that has steadily increased over the past three years. Cough is one of the most common and mild complaints in the community, leading people to prefer self-treatment. However, improper self-medication may pose significant health risks due to limited knowledge about medications and their proper use. This study aims to determine the level of knowledge among students at SMK/SMF Indonesia Yogyakarta regarding self-medication for cough. This research used a descriptive observational method. Data were collected through a validated questionnaire filled out by 60 student respondents, consisting of 11 statements covering the definition of cough, types of cough, and its treatment. The results showed that the majority of respondents had a good level of knowledge (91.6%), especially regarding the concept of self-medication and appropriate selection of cough medications. However, misunderstandings were still found, particularly in recognizing the proper definition of cough and the handling of syrup medications that have changed color. These findings indicate the need for continuous education on self-medication, particularly in ensuring safe drug use.
