Abstrak
Coughing is a reflex that is stimulated by irritation of the lungs or respiratory tract. The prevalence of cough in pneumonia in Indonesia in 2022 was highest in North Kalimantan with a percentage of 67.3%, while cases in Yogyakarta had a percentage of 10.3%. According to statistical data from the Yogyakarta Health Office in 2021, there were more than 35% of cough patients in the Kulon Progo and Bantul areas. A good level of knowledge can influence the rational use of drugs. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of knowledge about the use of cough medicine in Plambongan Hamlet, Pajangan Bantul. This research method is descriptive observational with data collection using purposive sampling technique. The sample in this study were people in Plambongan Hamlet aged 17-55 years, totaling 100 people. The results of the respondents' answers were analyzed and then categorized the level of knowledge in the good, sufficient and deficient categories. Based on the results obtained, the level of knowledge about the use of cough medicine in Plambongan Hamlet has good knowledge of 19 respondents (19%), enough as many as 75 respondents (75%), and less as many as 6 respondents (6%). It can be concluded that the level of knowledge of the people of Plambongan Hamlet is more in the moderate category.
