Cosmos caudatus Kunth. Leaves are topical plants known to contain secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, phenolict, alkaloids, and saponins. Traditional use of these leaves in Indonesia encourages scientific studies to identify their bioactive compounds based on extraction methods. This study aimed to compare the phytochemical content of juice and decoction forms of kenikir leaves through qualitative phytochemical screening. A descriptive experimental method with a post-test only was used. The screening covered seven groups of compounds : phenolics, flavonoids, alkaloids (Mayer and Dragendroff), tannins, saponins, steroids, and terpenoids. Test were repeated three times, and the results were analyses descriptively in tabular form. The results showed that phenolics, flavonoids, and alkaloids (Dragendroff) were presents in all samples. Alkaloids (Mayer) and saponins were only found in decoctions, while tannis, steroids, and terpenoids were absent. The conclusion of this study shows that there are differences in the phytochemical screening results of the extract and decoction of kenikir leaves.
