Abstrak
Hypertension or high blood pressure is a disease that can lead to other diseases such as stroke and coronary heart disease. One of the causes of hypertension is fluid retention, which leads to an increase in blood volume. The medication that can reduce excess body fluid is a diuretic. Avocado leaves contain flavonoids that have the potential to act as diuretics, thereby reducing blood volume. The aim of this research is to determine the formula of avocado leaf tea that has the most optimal diuretic effect. This study uses a posttest-only control group design experimental method. The treatment groups were divided into 4: a negative control group (1% Na CMC), a positive control group (Furosemide), avocado leaf tea 4 g, and avocado leaf tea 8 g in 200 ml of water, at a temperature of 100°C for 5 minutes. Observation was conducted by measuring the cumulative urine volume over 6 hours. Data analysis used the one-way ANOVA test if normally distributed and the Kruskal-Wallis test if not normally distributed, using SPSS version 26. The obtained diuretic activity is compared with the diuretic scale. The average urine volume results over 6 hours for groups I, II, III, and IV were 0.178 ml; 0.701 ml; 0.376 ml; and 1.61 ml, respectively. The results of this study indicate that avocado leaf tea infusion has the potential to act as a diuretic in male Swiss white mice. The 12 g avocado leaf tea infusion formula showed the most optimum diuretic effect (p≥ 0.05) with a strong diuretic activity of 1.654.
